Great news for our partner, US Fish and Wildlife Service, at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge.
Partners work individually and together to provide outdoor recreational and experiential education programming and pathways toward internships and employment in the outdoor recreation, wildlands, environment and conservation fields.
The hallmark of the coalition is a commitment to cooperation and collaboration. Many hours are spent providing free programs to partners in the spirit of collective impact.
Aurora Parks, Recreation, and Open Space (Aurora PROS)
The Aurora Parks, Recreation, and Open Space staff who are engaged with the Generation Wild NEMC run the Generation Wild NEMC program for Aurora. In the first implementation grant, Aurora had one program, GoWild In Your Park and funds for work in Sand Creek Park as a Places grant. In 2018, Aurora PROS received an approved Project Modification from GOCO to move Places funds into Programs. A separate contract was signed by GOCO and Aurora to fund the Generation Wild NEMC programs in Aurora. Aurora works with NEMC coalition members as well as members of the Northwest Aurora community to provide programming in several local natural areas. Program participants are invited to immerse themselves in native ecosystems through nature hikes at Star K Ranch open space, wagon rides at Plains Conservation Center, fishing, bike rides and kayak adventures at Aurora Reservoir, and much more. Aurora signs the Cooperative Agreement and is included in all evaluation and reporting to GOCO as part of Generation Wild NEMC.
